The Kiwanis Club of Danville named Melinda Dalton the winner of the 92nd Kiwanis Citizen of the Year Award tonight. The award is considered the most prestigious in Danville.

Dalton has been a leader and has served a number of organizations in the city including the American Heart Association, God’s Pit Crew, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the United Way and the Danville Cancer Association among others.

Dalton has also served locally with a service club as committee chair and president, as well as on a regional level covering three states and the District of Columbia. Dalton has also led work to support pediatric trauma centers in the region and supported the national project to end maternal and neonatal tetanus.
