
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam. Scammers are calling residents claiming that they missed jury duty and must pay a fine immediately to avoid being arrested.
Deputies are reminding residents that law enforcement will never call to demand payment and will never ask for gift cards, cash apps, wire transfers or to stay on the line.
If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not give out personal or financial information and do not send any payment.
