The City of Danville held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the new Spring Street Parking Garage. The event marks the beginning of construction on the new parking garage located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Spring Street and Union Street.

Mayor Alonzo Jones spoke during the ceremony about the need for the parking deck.

Rivermont Chief Executive Officer Michael Lemanski believes the new parking deck will lead to more investment in the River District.

In April of 2024 Danville City Council approved a special use permit to allow a waiver of maximum floor area at 403 Spring Street for the construction of the parking garage. The parking garage will have 432 spaces and be six stories in height.
