One woman was killed during a crash in Pittsylvania County on Sunday. Virginia State Police is investigating the single vehicle crash that occurred at 6:47 pm on Route 686, one half mile south of Route 40 in Pittsylvania County.

A 2003 Ford Escape was traveling south on Route 686, when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the ditch, overturned and struck a residence.

The driver was identified as Ora Pannell Slade, 65, of Gretna. Slade was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

No one at the residence was injured. The crash remains under investigation.
