Two men were arrested following a chase in Rockingham County on Thursday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:40 am deputies were performing routine patrol in the area of Gold Hill Rd. and Highway 220 when they noticed a white Dodge Ram occupied by individuals suspected in local breaking and entering’s, and one with outstanding warrants.

Deputies attempted to turn around on the vehicle when it began to accelerate and flee. Deputies viewed the vehicle running other motorists off the road and driving erratically in an attempt to escape.

The NC State Highway patrol joined in the pursuit as did Stoneville Police Department traveling in speeds in excess of 100 mph North on Highway 220. During the chase officers involved reported shots being fired from the fleeing vehicle. Officers reported five to six shots being heard.

Deputies then proceeded to perform a P.I.T. to stop the suspects from fleeing and placing the public in more danger. No officer involved, or citizens, sustained any injuries from the gunfire or P.I.T. maneuver.

The suspect vehicle came to a rest off of the roadway and the passenger fled on foot. The driver, 30-year-old Timothy Lee Williams, was taken into custody with no injuries. Surrounding agencies responded to the area and a perimeter was set up.

32-year-old Michael Seth Chilton was taken into custody about two miles from the scene without incident.

Williams has been charged with Felony Flee and Elude and given no bond and placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility. Chilton has been charged with Felony Flee and Elude, and two counts of Felony Assault on Law Enforcement Officer with a Firearm. Michael Seth Chilton was taken before the Magistrate and given No Bond as well and was also placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office detention facility.
