After more than a decade apart, the Scott family has reclaimed Wendell Scott’s historic #34 car, thanks to the support of World Wide Technology (WWT). The car, built by Wendell Scott himself and his son Frank Scott, will now serve as a centerpiece for history and education.

The #34 car was created as a tribute to Wendell’s groundbreaking racing career. It gained cultural recognition when it was featured in the 1977 film Greased Lightning starring Richard Pryor. For decades, the car served as both a family treasure and a symbol of Wendell Scott’s trailblazing story as the first African American to win a NASCAR Grand National (Cup Series) race.

Over a decade ago, the Scott family was forced to sell the car. Its absence was deeply felt. Now, through WWT’s partnership, the car has been reclaimed and restored to the Scott family, ensuring its place in motorsports history and its role in inspiring future generations.

“This is more than reclaiming a car. This is reclaiming a piece of our family, our history, and our culture,” said Warrick Scott, CEO of the Wendell Scott Foundation and grandson of Wendell Scott. “Thanks to World Wide Technology, we can once again share this story with the world, not as something lost, but as something living and moving forward.”

“The return of the #34 car is not only about honoring the past, but about inspiring the future,” said Lavar Scott, NASCAR driver. “I am proud to carry this legacy forward at the Playoffs.”

“Urban Exotics is honored to support this journey,” said Vlad Zatulovsky, VP of Business Development at Urban Exotics. “The #34 car represents culture, legacy, and community impact, values that align deeply with our mission.”

The Wendell Scott Foundation will transform the #34 car into the centerpiece of a 12-month Tribute Car Tour and traveling mobile museum. The car will visit schools, racetracks, and community events nationwide, serving as a platform for STEM education, scholarships, and mentorship.
