
A man was arrested on several charges following a high speed chase in Rockingham County on Wednesday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:44 pm deputies were involved in a high-speed pursuit that went through the City of Reidsville.
The chase began when the deputy saw a black BMW on traveling on NC Highway 14 and noticed it matched the description of a vehicle reported to have been involved in hit and run and vehicle pursuit, from the week prior. The deputy then attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled reaching speeds over 130 mph.
The vehicle pursuit continued through the City of Reidsville until the driver finally stopped at an apartment complex located on Lesley Court in Reidsville. The driver then fled on foot and was seen throwing a backpack down by the pursuing Deputy.
It was discovered at that time the suspect vehicle was also occupied by two small children, who were unharmed during the chase. The suspect was apprehended a short time later by officers with the Reidsville Police Department at another apartment complex located on Sherwood drive in Reidsville.
32-year-old Allanti Marquan Broadnax, of Reidsville, has been charged with Felony Flee/Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent Manufacture Sell and Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Misdemeanor Child Abuse, Misdemeanor Simple Possession Schedule III Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possess Marijuana up to ½ Oz.
Broadnax was taken before a Magistrate and was issued a $1,000,000.00 secured bond.
