The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Appomattox Field Office is continuing to ask for the public’s help in locating a man wanted for a homicide. Authorities are still looking for Jason Allen Glidewell, II, 19, of Bracey, Va.

Glidewell is a white male, five-foot-seven, 160 pounds, and is the suspect in the fatal shooting of Hunter Bates on Interstate 85 northbound on Aug. 28, 2025.

Glidewell is believed to have ties to the Richmond/Henrico area and at the time of the shooting was believed to be driving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with Virginia registration TFN 1004. Virginia State Police is also looking to locate this vehicle. The vehicle may have damage to the driver’s side door or front quarter panel.

Glidewell is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The shooting occurred on August 28 at 3:47 pm along Interstate 85 northbound at the five-mile marker in Mecklenburg County. Troopers responding to the incident located a Honda Civic that had gone off the right side of the road and came to rest in a culvert.

The driver, Hunter A. Bates, 20, formerly of Colonial Heights, Va., was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was transported to an area hospital but was later released.
