A former teacher and coach in Caswell County has been arrested for an inappropriate relationship with a student that occurred nearly 20 years ago. 60-year-old Dennis Bannick, of Robbins, NC was arrested by the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

He has been charged with four counts of sex offense of a student. The offenses allegedly took place in the fall of 2006 when Bannick was a teacher and the football coach at Bartlett Yancey High School.

Bannick is currently a P.E. and Health teacher at Elise Middle School in Moore County, North Carolina. Counselors have been made available to assist students that may need it following the arrest.

Bannick was placed in the Caswell County Detention Center under a $75k bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
