Goodwill Industries of the Valleys celebrated the grand opening of its newest retail location at 153 Crown Drive in Danville on Tuesday, August 26. More than 200 shoppers entered the store in the first hour, eager to explore the expanded space and opening-day promotion.

The new store consolidates Goodwill’s existing Danville operations into a single, reimagined facility, offering shoppers and donors a larger, modernized space.

“This new store represents hope,” said Richmond Vincent, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. “When Danville residents shop and donate to this Goodwill, they’re helping people across the region break the cycles of poverty and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”

Revenue from every purchase and donation supports Goodwill’s mission to eliminate poverty through workforce development programs, including Career Navigation, which connects local job seekers to free training, coaching and employment support. In 2024 alone, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys helped more than 20,000 people gain the skills and confidence needed to thrive.

“By merging operations into a single, more efficient space, we’re making it easier for customers to shop, donors to give and staff to do their work safely and effectively,” said Mindy Boyd, chief operating officer of Goodwill Industries of the Valleys. “This move allows us to better serve the community while continuing to support Goodwill’s mission.”

The new location replaces Goodwill’s Tuscarora and Westover stores, which faced space and accessibility challenges. By investing in this consolidated location, Goodwill is creating a better experience for shoppers, donors and employees alike.

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys operates 38 retail locations across Central, Southwest and Southside Virginia, offering affordable shopping and supporting workforce development programs that help individuals achieve greater independence through employment.
