The man who was arrested on Wednesday night for injuring three Pittsylvania County Deputies has now been charged. James Andru Lehnerd has been charged with Felony Attempted Aggravated Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer.
According to Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor, deputies were attempting to serve warrants on Lehnerd for brandishing a firearm and trespassing at 611 Blue Jay Lane in Pittsville at around 5 pm on Wednesday. As the three deputies approached the door Lehnerd began shooting at them.
The three deputies were not hit by bullets, but were injured by shrapnel. One deputy was transported to a local emergency room out of an abundance of caution.
