
Three deputies were injured while attempting to serve warrants in Pittsylvania County on Wednesday night. According to Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor, deputies were attempting to serve warrants at 611 Blue Jay Lane in Pittsville at around 5 pm.
The deputies were attempting to serve warrants on James Andreu Lehnerd for brandishing a firearm and trespassing as well as serving a protective order. While deputies were at the residence, Lehnerd shot at three deputies.
The three deputies were not hit by bullets, but were injured by shrapnel. One deputy was transported to a local emergency room out of an abundance of caution.
Lehnerd was taken into custody following a standoff that lasted several hours. Lehnerd has been taken to the Pittsylvania County Jail.
His charges have not been announced at this time. Virginia State Police will be handling the investigation.
