Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler is still in critical condition at the UNC Burn Unit according to an update from his wife. Vogler’s wife, Blair, said in an update on the go fund me page to support Vogler’s recovery.

He remains in critical condition and has faced a number of complications. We are deeply grateful to the incredible medical team caring for him around the clock. While his path forward remains uncertain, Lee is strong and continues to fight. He is a devoted family man, and we know his strength and determination are rooted in the love he has for his family and community.

Vogler was attacked and set on fire on July 30 by Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes over what police say was a personal matter. Hayes will have a bond hearing on August 19.

Hayes has been charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding.
