Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler is still listed in critical condition after being attacked and set on fire on July 30. A new update on the go fund me support Vogler’s family says that he will be in the hospital for at least six months.
Lee’s injuries will permanently impact his and his family’s lives, and the sheer amount of financial resources required for long-term care is difficult to even estimate. But thanks to your generosity, a considerable part of this burden is being lifted, giving Lee and his family the ability to focus on healing rather than overwhelming financial stress.
As we gain a clearer understanding of Lee’s recovery, we know he will be in the hospital for at least six months. In addition, both Lee and Blair will be unable to work for an extended period. Because of this, we will be increasing our fundraising goal to help cover not just medical expenses, but also the loss of household income, travel for treatment, and the long-term rehabilitation and recovery Lee will need.
Vogler was still listed in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon at the UNC Burn Unit.
Danville City Council held its first meeting on Tuesday night since the attack on Vogler. Mayor Alonzo Jones opened the meeting thanking the City for its support.
Mayor Jones also asked that the community continue to support Vogler and his family.
