Political leaders across Virginia and the country have been reacting since the attack on Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler that occurred on Wednesday. During media availabilities on Thursday, both U.S. Senators from Virginia reacted to the attack.

Senator Tim Kaine sent his well wishes to Vogler.

Senator Mark Warner called the attack “horrific”.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin also appeared on Fox News on Wednesday and spoke about the attack.

The latest update from an EMS source said Vogler sustained burns on 63% of his body. He was transported to the Burn Unit at UNC.

29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, of Danville, has been charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding. He is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
