
A man was arrested in Rockingham County after multiple things were set on fire. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, 65-year-old Ricky Arnold Farmer was arrested for charges resulting from an incident that took place at 210 Paisley Rd. in Madison on July 22.
On that date fire personnel had responded to 210 Paisley Rd., Madison NC, around 6:48 am for a structure fire. The structure that was on fire was reported to be a pole barn and an investigation began by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockingham County Fire Marshall’s Office.
During that investigation it was found that four bulk barns had also been burned, along with two tractors, a cutter, and a tobacco primer. The next day, Ricky Arnold Farmer was taken into custody for outstanding warrants for Assault on Emergency Personnel for an incident that took place on July 10 at 449 Janet Rd in Stoneville.
Farmer had been developed as a suspect at the time and upon his arrest he was questioned in regard to the incident at 210 Paisley Rd. in Madison NC on July 22. Farmer subsequently was bonded out for those Assault Charges but remained a person of interest.
Upon consultation with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office in regard to the fires warrants were issued for Farmer on July 25. Farmer was arrested without incident and taken before the Magistrate where he was issued no bond.
Farmer has been charged with five counts of Felony Burning Certain Structures, and four counts of Felony Burning Personal Property. Farmer is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on August 18,
