
(Charlottesville, VA) – Virginia’s 5th district congressional field is getting deeper. Albemarle County Board of Supervisors member Mike Pruitt has joined the three other individuals vying for the U.S. House of Representatives Seat. Pruitt a Democrat believes the country is at a turning point and his campaign is based on “building a future where Virginia’s working families don’t just get by they thrive,” according to his campaign website.
Pruitt a lifelong Virginian graduated from Duke University on a Military scholarship and was then commissioned into the U.S. Navy where he served three tours. After eight years in service Mike was elected to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2023 where he focused on rural infrastructure, broadband access, and economic development.
Mike Pruitt joins fellow democrat Paul Riley, Republican incumbent John McGuire, and Republican Bob Good in the race for the 5th District seat.
