Last night Martinsville City Council voted to put City Manager  Aretha Ferrell-Benavides on administrative leave. Council voted 4-1 in favor of the decision.

Ferrell-Benavides recently came under scrutiny for charges that were placed on the city’s credit card. The charges included expensive hotel stays and meals.

Martinsville Police Chief Rob Fincher will serve as acting-city manager. Ferrell-Benavides has been named a finalist for the city manager job in Elgin, Texas.

City Council also voted in favor on Wednesday of allocating $20,000 so an outside agency can do a forensic audit
