
A Pittsylvania County man was found guilty on Tuesday for the 2024 shooting deaths of his son and daughter-in-law. The shootings occurred on June 25, 2024. The 911 center received a call at approximately 9:30pm that two subjects had been shot at 471 River Ridge Rd, in Axton.
When deputies arrived, they found 41-year-old William Jason Roberts, of Roanoke, and 39-year-old Ashley Marie Roberts, of Roanoke, deceased from gunshot wounds outside the residence. Those individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody on scene without incident.
65- year-old William Lester Roberts was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and one count of discharging a firearm inside a dwelling.
Roberts was found guilty on all charges on Tuesday following a jury deliberation. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
