Danville Community College (DCC) has announced the continued approval of its Nurse Aide Education Program by the Virginia Board of Nursing following a successful biennial survey visit conducted in May 2025. The program was found to be in full compliance with all regulatory requirements, reinforcing its reputation for academic excellence, clinical preparedness, and student-centered instruction.

The review affirmed that DCC’s Nurse Aide Program meets or exceeds all standards related to instructional quality, curriculum, clinical experiences, and student outcomes. Over the last three years, DCC has maintained a 100% pass rate for first-time test takers on both the written and skills portions of the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam, an achievement that underscores the strength of the program and its instructional team.

Rosa Wilson, BSN, RN, CDP, serves as Program Coordinator and Primary Instructor for the Nurse Aide Program at DCC. Wilson was commended for her organizational leadership and dedication to maintaining compliance and academic rigor.

“Our mission is to prepare compassionate, capable caregivers who are ready to meet the healthcare needs of our community,” said Wilson. “This continued approval is a reflection of our team’s commitment to quality education, and I am incredibly proud of the students, faculty, and staff who contribute to our success.”

Dr. Jeffrey Fields, Dean of the Division of Arts, Sciences, and Business, expressed his full support for the program and its impact.

“DCC’s Nurse Aide Program is a vital part of our healthcare training offerings,” said Dr. Fields. “Rosa Wilson’s leadership and attention to detail ensure that our students are not only well-prepared for certification but are also equipped with the empathy and professionalism essential for patient care. We are thrilled to see the program receive this well-earned recognition from the Board of Nursing.”

The program’s next biennial evaluation will take place in 2027, with an interim program assessment scheduled for Spring 2026.
