Earlier this week the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors recognized a local man for a lifetime of service. The board presented Bobby Campbell with a resolution for his years of service.
Campbell began his volunteer firefighting career when he first answered the call for assistance while working at the old Peoples Service Station on Main Street in Chatham. This experience ignited a passion for serving the community, which he continued to do for 59 years with the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to spending those years fighting fires, Campbell also conducted rescue operations and served in leadership positions, training and community outreach, and was a role model for generations of first responders.
In addition to serving with the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell devoted 25 years to the Chatham Rescue Squad, further demonstrating his deep commitment to public safety and community service.
