The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted in a favor of installing a four-way stop sign at a busy intersection in the county. On Tuesday night, the board approved a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Tunstall High Road, Stony Mill Road, and Mt. Cross Road.

The four-way stop sign idea was discussed during a town hall meeting last week held by Tunstall Supervisor Vic Ingram and Westover Supervisor Murray Whittle.

VDOT is expected to have the work done before the start of the school year in August and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office will have traffic enforcement

The board also unanimously voted against a rezoning request for a proposed Dollar General on Mount Cross Road at State Road 844 on Tuesday night. The applicant had requested to reschedule voting on the proposed store in an effort to hold a community meeting and do more research.

The applicant also attempted to withdraw the application, but the board unanimously voted against the proposed store. The developer will have to wait 12 months before requesting to rezone the property again.
