A major road in Halifax County has reopened after flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal caused damage early last week. The flooding caused a sinkhole on Route 58 East over Winns Creek causing the road to close for four days.

Route 58 East was closed between Route 119 (Calvary Rd.) and Route 699 (Wilkins Rd.)

VDOT has announced that the necessary repairs have been made and the road is now back open to traffic.
