Earlier this week, Danville City Council approved the City of Danville to be Designated as a Bee City USA Affiliate and Authorize the Department of Public Works to Act as the Lead Sponsor.

The Danville Garden Club has submitted a request for the City of Danville to pursue Bee City USA certification. 

Bee City USA is a national certification program that recognizes and supports communities that are committed to sustaining pollinators by creating healthy habitats rich in native plants and managed with minimal pesticides. Pollinators, such as native bees, butterflies, and moths, are essential to nearly 90% of the world’s flowering plants, and their conservation has become increasingly important due to widespread population declines linked to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and disease.
