
Two people received treatment for smoke inhalation due to a house fire in Danville on Wednesday. The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 741 Melrose Dr. at 11:45 am.
Crews arrived to find a single family residential dwelling with heavy smoke pushing from inside the structure. Crews spent several minutes searching for victims with no one being found. The fire attack crews spent about 20 minutes bringing the fire under control.
It was later reported that the two occupants who were inside at the time the fire started had self transported themselves to the hospital and were being treated for smoke inhalation. Three engines, one ladder truck , a safety officer and one chief officer responded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Danville Fire Departments Fire Marshalls’ office. Crews were on scene for a little over two hours and the American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
