On Tuesday night, Danville City Council voted in favor of a proposal to turn a former elementary school into new apartments. Cedarbrook Partners LLC is planning to  convert the former W. Townes Lea Elementary School into 31 apartments.

The school is located at 439 Cedarbrook Drive and has been closed since 2012. The developers are proposing eight one bedroom, 22 two bedroom, and one three bedroom unit for the site.

Landscaping, lighting, and parking requirements would all be reviewed during the redevelopment approval process. The planning commission unanimously recommended approval of the project.
