
Two juveniles were involved in a vehicle theft and kidnapping incident on Saturday. According to the Eden Police Department, officers were dispatched at 3:03 pm to the Draper Pool, located at 1722 Mill Avenue, in reference to a large disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that an altercation had occurred between several juveniles. During the incident, two of the juveniles fled the pool area and entered a running vehicle that was parked nearby.
A 9-month-old infant was secured in a car seat inside the vehicle while the parents were standing at the rear of the car. The juveniles then drove away from the scene with the infant still inside.
Officers quickly located the two suspects on Maryland Avenue and recovered the stolen vehicle, with the infant still safely secured in the car seat, on Hopkins Court. Fortunately, the child was unharmed. Both juvenile suspects were taken into custody.
The suspects were identified as a 15-year-old female and a 12-year-old female.
The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with the following offenses:
- First-Degree Kidnapping
- Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
- Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Assault Inflicting Serious Injury (2 counts)
- Hit and Run (2 counts)
The 12-year-old juvenile was charged with the following offenses:
- First-Degree Kidnapping
- Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
- Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
The 15-year-old was transported to Juvenile Justice. The 12-year-old was released to her parents.
The investigation remains ongoing. Due to the ages of both the victims and the suspects, no further information will be released at this time.
