A man was arrested after a shooting in Rockingham County on Wednesday. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call of a gunshot victim at at 5237 NC 135 in Stoneville.

Upon arrival, deputies found a white male suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The male was treated on scene and transported to an area hospital for further treatment.

During the course of the investigation, and after consultation with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office 24-year-old James Patrick Brittain of the same address was taken into custody and charged with one count of Assault with Deadly Weapon Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and one count of Discharge Weapon in Occupied Property Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

The victim 45-year-old William Michael Pulliam Jr. is still hospitalized and being treated for his injuries and is expected to recover. Brittain was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility where he was given no bond and scheduled to appear in district court on June 23.
