
A former Danville elementary school is one step closer to becoming some new apartments. On Monday, the Danville Planning Commission recommended approval of a rezoning request for the the former site of W. Townes Lea Elementary School at 439 Cedarbrook Drive.
The school has been closed since 2012. The developers are planning to convert the building into 31 new apartments.
The apartments will have 22 two bedroom, 8 one bedroom, and one three bedroom units. The plans also include a gym and a common area. The proposed apartments also have plenty of parking with 63 spaces.
Danville City Council will vote on the proposed apartments in July.
