Sovah Health – Danville recently announced that Kim Doss has been recognized as the facility’s 2025 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.

“At Sovah Health, our caring and compassionate team members are at the heart of advancing our mission of making communities healthier – and Kim Doss is a shining example of this day in and day out,” said Steve Heatherly, Market President of Sovah Health. “We are so proud to recognize her many contributions to caring for patients, supporting our hospital, and serving our community. I’m grateful for Kim’s positive influence and the example she sets for all of us.”

Kim works at the Sovah Blood Donor Center as the Blood Bank technical specialist and takes care of quality improvement and safety. She also functions as chief mentor, motivator, and sometimes therapist for all the techs, which are a few reasons why she was nominated for the Mercy Award.

“Kim is not just an employee, she is the bright spot in difficult days. Those who know her, know that her wisdom for all things lab, especially blood bank, is unparalleled. When at 2am, and there is a critical need in the emergency room, and the tech on duty needs advice on how to proceed, Kim is just a phone call away, and is the same kind, helpful person you would have if you had the same problem on dayshift when she is wide awake and at work. There has never been a personal sacrifice she would not make to ensure that our patients were cared for in the best way possible. Simply, as an employee, Kim is the smile you want to see at the end of a long week. As a lab tech, she is the brain you want to pick and most importantly as a patient, she is the caregiver you want to have.”

Each facility winner, including Kim, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2025 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August.
