Two people were arrested after a possible larceny and disturbance in Halifax County on Friday. According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, the E911 Center received a call about a disturbance and possible larceny on L.P. Bailey Memorial Hwy. in the northern end of Halifax County.

Deputies responded to the scene and made contact with a female subject as they were investigating the incident. Through the course of the investigation, they noticed three individuals, believed to be involved with the incident, walking along the power line near L.P. Bailey Hwy.

When approached, they ran into a wooded area. One of the subjects Emma Rafferty, 23, was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Rafferty was found to be in possession of a suspected Schedule II substance and was subsequently arrested.

With the assistance of a K9, deputies were able to track the individuals to a vacant building in the woods. One of the subjects, Dakota Palaisa, 35, had outstanding warrants in Campbell and Pittsylvania Counties, and was arrested for those charges. More charges are pending.

Assisting in the search was Brookneal Police Department, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.
