The identity of a man whose body was found near a road in Henry County on Tuesday has been released. According to the Martinsville Police Department, the victim has been identified as 34-year-old James Baldwin Jr., of Martinsville.
The Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke is performing a forensic examination of the victim.
The body was found near the road in the 500 block of Lee’s Ridge Road at around 7:30 am on Tuesday. The investigation led to a residence at 1145 Ridge Road in Martinsville.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence and was served by members of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Martinsville Police Department. Evidence obtained in the search warrant showed that the homicide occurred inside the residence.
The investigation is ongoing. The Martinsville Police Department is now the leading investigative agency in this case, with the ongoing assistance of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Several people of interest in the case are currently being interviewed and authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a gold 2022 Chevrolet Trax with VA tags TGB-2200.
