
An investigation is underway after a body was found near a road in Martinsville on Tuesday. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the 911 Center received a call about a body near the road in the 500 block of Lee’s Ridge Road at around 7:30 am.
Once on scene emergency responders confirmed that the unidentified man was dead. Deputies said the person appeared to have been shot multiple times.
During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis said that where the body was discovered was not the scene of the crime and that the man was killed somewhere else.
Martinsville Police Chief Rob Fincher said on Tuesday night that officers conducted a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Ridge Road in Martinsville in connection to the body being found. Fincher said there was evidence inside of the home of the homicide occurring there.
A full forensic analysis will be done on the house and a possible suspect is being questioned.
The body will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke to determine the identity and cause of death.
