Danville police are still looking for a suspect in a homicide that occurred on Thursday in the parking lot of the Airport Mart Exxon and a man has been charged for helping the suspect leave the area.  The Danville Police Department has charged Jaelynn Lowen 21, of Danville with second degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

A man has been arrested for helping Lowen flee the area. 21-year-old Keontae Tarpley was arrested on Friday after giving Lowen a ride to the Burlington area.

Tarpley has been charged with accessory after the fact.

Lowen stands accused of shooting Pinakin Patel, 47 of Danville after an interaction over an alleged theft from the store. Lowen fled the scene in a blue Honda Odyssey which was later located on Halifax Road.  The van was originally identified by a traffic camera leaving the scene and a license plate number was collected.

First responders found Patel in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and rendered first aid, he was then transported to SOVAH Health Danville where he was later pronounced dead.

Anyone who may have information on Lowen’s whereabouts is asked to call the Danville Police Department by either utilizing the 911 system or calling patrol at 434-799-6510.
