On Tuesday night, Danville City Council approved a resolution authorizing agreement with American Municipal Power to participate in a smart thermostat program. Participants in the program will receive a one-time $55 rebate.
By taking part, each customer’s thermostat would help reduce the overall electric system demand by approximately 1 kilowatt. This voluntary program is designed to pre-cool homes during summer months before forecasted peak hours, and pre-heat homes during winter months prior to expected peak events.
