
A fugitive was arrested on Wednesday following a foot pursuit in Henry County. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 6 pm the Drug Interdiction Unit made contact with a suspicious vehicle in the area of Blackberry Road and Stones Dairy Road during a consensual encounter.
While speaking with the vehicle’s occupants, deputies identified Christopher Roger Riggs, 29, of 377 Oliver Dr. Bassett, who was found to have an active felony warrant for Failure to Appear. The underlying charge associated with the warrant was Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
As deputies attempted to take Riggs into custody, he resisted arrest and fled on foot. K9 Zajo, who was on scene with his handler, pursued Riggs and successfully apprehended him a short distance away.
Riggs is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond. He is facing the following charges:
