Danville Utilities has once again earned national recognition for its commitment to safe, dependable electric service — achieving the “Platinum” designation as a Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) from the American Public Power Association (APPA).
The “Platinum” level is the second highest a public power entity can achieve. Danville Utilities has received the RP3 designation multiple times, and this year is the second time it has reached the “Platinum” level.
“Receiving an RP3 designation is a great honor signifying a utility has demonstrated commitment to industry best practices,” said Jeremy Ash, Chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel and General Manager at Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Kansas. “And ultimately, the culture developed from this pursuit of excellence and continued improvement through the RP3 program results in measurable value delivered to the local community.”
The RP3 designation is awarded to utilities that excel in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Utilities must demonstrate sound business practices and a strong, organization-wide dedication to the safe and consistent delivery of electricity.
“This recognition is a reflection of the outstanding team we have at Danville Utilities,” said Jason Grey, Director of Danville Utilities. “Our employees take great pride in serving the community, and this Platinum designation shows their dedication to safety, service, and continuous improvement.”
Danville Utilities will retain the RP3 designation for three years and joins a select group of more than 250 public power utilities nationwide to currently hold this distinction.
