The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says there is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms today across most of the southside today mainly before 2 pm. Pittsylvania, Halifax, Rockingham, and Caswell counties are considered to have an enhanced risk along with Danville and South Boston.

The primary risk in these areas will be damaging wind. Secondary threats include large hail and an isolated tornado.

Henry County and Martinsville have a slight risk of severe thunderstorms today.
