Danville City Councilman Madison Whittle announced on Tuesday that he has entered the race for the House of Delegates’ 49th District seat. Whittle is seeking the Republican nomination to succeed Danny Marshall in the House of Delegates, who recently announced he wouldn’t seek reelection after serving since 2002.
“On City Council in Danville, I have opposed sanctuary cities and higher taxes, consistently standing up for the safety of our citizens and the responsible management of tax dollars. Southside needs the same conservative representation in Richmond and that’s why I am running. It is critically important that we send someone who is ready to work for our values on day one to Richmond. I am that candidate,” said Whittle.
Danny Marshall stated: “I am supporting Madison Whittle for the Virginia House of Delegates. His experience in business and economic development will serve the region well. Madison’s goal to bring good-paying jobs is vital for our families.”
Whittle was first elected to city council in 2016 and is the founder of MJRW Inc. Whittle is a member of the Danville Rotary Club, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, Danville Cancer Society, and a founding member of the Crossroads Christian Counseling Mission. Whittle is also club member at the Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.
In the community, Whittle supports and volunteers with the warming and cooling center at the Redemption Center Church. Whittle is offering his building in Pittsylvania County, Oak Grove, for a new community center. It is “God’s Final Call and Warning” run by Ralph Rhyne and his wife supplying food, clothing, appliances, furniture, school supplies, and toys for those in need and many other self-supporting ministries.
