Delegate Danny Marshall has announced his current term will be his last representing the southside. Marshall announced in his weekly newsletter that he will not seek re-election when his current term ends at the end of 2025.

Marshall has represented the 49th District including the City of Danville and parts of Pittsylvania and Halifax Counties in the Virginia General Assembly since 2002. He was previously a member of Danville City Council from 2000-2001.

Two Democrats have already filed to run for the seat in November, Danville City Councilman Dr. Gary Miller and Jasmine Lipscomb.
