The Danville Police Department is recognizing their Officers of the Month for January. Corporal Matthew Phillips was named the Specialty Officer of the Month.

Phillips investigated a shooting where he was able to identify a suspect and an obtain a warrant for his arrest after weeks of investigative work. Phillips conducted multiple invertiews and spent several hours reviewing evidence during his investigation.

Officer Gauge Mayhew was named the Patrol Officer of the Month. Mayhew was conducting a routine patrol when he heard gunshots.

When Mayhew got closer to the area he noticed several individuals and started questioning them. During the investigation Mayhew identified and arrested a suspect and recovered a stolen firearm.
