A suspect wanted for a homicide in South Boston was found and arrested in Altavista on Monday. Javante Jordan was arrested at a home on 9th Street

Altavista Police searched the home after receiving information from the South Boston Police Department. Jordan was found hiding in the attic of the home.

During the search of the residence, additional evidence believed to be related to the murder, was also collected. Jordan is being held with no bond and will be transported back to Halifax County to await trial.

Jordan is facing charges of second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

On Sunday, July 16, Jordan had an altercation with Quaheim Chandler, then took out a handgun and fired multiple times at Chandler. One bullet struck Chandler in the upper torso causing a life threatening injury.

Chandler was pronounced dead about one hour later at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.
