When Harvey Chalmers scratched his $100,000 Jumbo Cash ticket from the Virginia Lottery, he knew he’d won something, but he didn’t immediately realize just how much.
The Danville man won the game’s $100,000 top prize with a ticket he bought at Fas Mart, located at 1016 Goodyear Boulevard in Danville.
“It feels great to win!” he told Lottery officials as he claimed his prize.
Mr. Chalmers is the second top prize winner in the $100,000 Jumbo Cash game, which means one more top prize in that game remains unclaimed. The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,632,000. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.03.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. The winning ticket was sold in Danville, which received more than $8.8 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year. In Fiscal Year 2022, the Lottery raised more than $779 million for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
