A new poll from Roanoke College shows that Governor Glenn Youngkin’s approval rating has dropped since February. Youngkin’s approval rating is down six points from February, with 51% of Virginians reporting that they approve of the job he is doing, his approval rating was 57% in February.

The poll also suggests that Youngkin’s favorability rating is down six points to 46% (from 52% in February). There is a significant difference of opinion on Youngkin based on political affiliation. His approval rating was 86% among Republicans and 34% among Democrats.

The poll says that 50% of Virginians approve of the job that the General Assembly is doing. The poll also shows that 48% of Virginians think that things are going in the right direction, which is down 7% from 55% in February.

The numbers for President Joe Biden are slightly up, with his approval rating among Virginians up to 42% from 38% in February. However, about 69% of Virginians think the country is going in the wrong direction.

Virginians still favor former President Donald Trump as their top choice for the Republican candidate in 2024, with 48% choosing Trump and 28% choosing Ron DeSantis.

The poll was conducted by The Institute for Policy and Opinion Research (IPOR) at Roanoke College. During the poll they interviewed 678 adult residents of Virginia between May 14 and May 23.
