On Friday, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed five bills to help support firefighters and first responders. According to Youngkin, the bills are designed to help the physical and mental state of first responders. Youngkin also praised the bipartisan effort that got the bills passed during the general assembly.
The bills will help first responders who struggle with anxiety and depression as well as expand coverage for bladder and thyroid cancer in the Virginia Workers Compensation Act. Another bill will also expand training for firefighters to include the risk of electric vehicle fires.
