God’s Pit Crew and the South Boston Speedway are partnering this weekend for their first-ever food box distribution in Halifax County to help those in need. One-thousand food boxes will be distributed at the Speedway on Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm while supplies last.
Each food box contains 25 pounds of healthy staple food items such as spaghetti and pasta sauce, oatmeal, mac n’ cheese, tuna, canned fruit and vegetables, and a Bible. The community is invited to pick up one food box per family, plus a case of beverages, at this drive-through event, with a maximum of two families per car. A representative must be present from each family to receive a food box.
Families are asked to come to the main entrance where volunteers will direct them to food distribution points. Following the food box distribution, the Speedway will hold a fun-filled event with the God’s Pit Crew Night Race. Several of the competitors will volunteer during the food box distribution before competing Saturday night.
South Boston Speedway Sr. Director, Marketing and Administration Carly Brashears says, “South Boston Speedway is blessed to partner with such a great organization as God’s Pit Crew. We’re excited to grow that partnership with the upcoming food box distribution in Halifax County. The impact God’s Pit Crew makes across the country and worldwide is outstanding, but they’re providing the same hope here in the local community which means so much.”
God’s Pit Crew Blessing Bucket Program Director Julie Burnett says, “We’re very grateful to serve the families of Halifax County through this partnership with the South Boston Speedway. They’re amazing partners. We want to thank them for hosting this wonderful event to help families in need.”
