The Sexual Assault Response Team held a ceremony yesterday in Danville to recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and launch the “Start By Believing” Campaign.

“Sexual assault victims deserve a voice, they deserve to be heard,” said Pittsylvania County Commonwealth Attorney Bryan Haskins, “they deserve to be able to come out of the shadows and not live in fear and shame of what has happened to them and what was forced upon them.”

A proclamation was read recognizing April 5th as “Start By Believing Day” to support the survivors of sexual assault.
