DCC and Averett have announced a partnership to create a new aviation mechanics program. Once graduates complete the program they will be able to obtain a mechanics certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration with both airframe and powerplant ratings.

After earning their associates degree graduates will also be able to transfer to Averett for a bachelor’s degree in aerospace management. The program has concentrations in both aviation business and flight operations.

Local officials anticipate that with Caesars Virginia opening in the near future that more aviation mechanics will be needed in the area. There is also currently a national shortage for aviation maintenance mechanics. The new program is expected to be available by the Fall of 2024.
