A former Major League baseball player whp was in Danville for part of his career has died. The Star-Tribune reports Gordon Ray Windhorn who was known as “Gordie” passed away last month at the age of 88. In 1954 Windhorn made his way to Danville where he played for the Leafs of the Carolina League. Windhorn made his Major League debut with the New York Yankees in 1959. He also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Athletics, and Los Angeles Angels.
