Governor Glenn Youngkin ceremonially signed bills enacting reforms of the Virginia Employment Commission. The department came under fire for its failure to process claims in a timely manner and was sued by several claimants. The suit was settled earlier this year. The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission found VEC was unprepared to handle the onslaught of claims due to COVID-19. The new laws contain many recommendations from that investigation.
